STOP THE VIOLENCE IN VALENCIA: POLICE VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN ON THE STREETS OF VALENCIA

High school students recently took part in a peaceful protest in Valencia City to protest against their schools not being paid for electricity or heating. They were taught by their teachers how to protest peacefully. The police turned out in riot gear and treated the kids and parents like criminals. This is now daily life for many students and parents here in Valencia and there has been no media coverage of these attrocities. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS REGIME - MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD.

Valencia welcomes the Encuentro entre dos mares (The meeting of two seas) until the 17th of June, in which 176 Spanish, Jordanian and Latin American artists participate showing their work in five great exhibitions. This meeting has turned Valencia into a cultural showcase of artistic creation, which, using the slogan Tolerance and Solidarity, explores the relationships between Latin American and Spanish contemporary art.

The meeting of two seas. Biennial of São Paulo-Valencia is an art biennial that will be celebrated until the 17th of June. The Valencia Region becomes Europe's front door for the Latin American art, the cultural showcase of the contemporary art from the other side of the ocean and establishes, as well, a cultural bridge between both continents.

The slogan that vertebrates all the exhibitions of the meeting is Tolerance and Solidarity. The globalization has created a new world order and although it has brought significant progress, it has also brought face to face very different cultures, which coexist in the same space and that not always understand each other. The meeting of two seas starts under this perspective, which takes shape in five plastic art exhibitions developed in different areas of Valencia: the Convento del Carmen, the Nave de Sagunto, the Gallera and the University, and other samples of emergent artists who will exhibit their work in thirteen galleries of Valencia.

The meeting of two seas offers therefore a wide itinerary through the Latin American art, from the most significant works of the biennial of São Paulo, to the Afro-Amerindian and popular art and, of course, the Spanish emergent art.

In addition, this year, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has been invited to participate in the Meeting, with the objective to reinforce even more the slogan of tolerance, since it is a country that has made a definitive bet to keep fluid and warm relations with Western Countries, without giving up its Arab and Muslim culture.

The Meeting has also the participation of the owners of some art galleries of Valencia, who have signed an agreement with the Generalitat, so they will choose an artist who will exhibit, in each gallery, a selection of his work related to the slogan of the Meeting. This way, the thirteen participant galleries will be part of the Meeting, which scatters its exhibition areas around the whole city of Valencia and it arrives also at Alicante and Castellón. The implication of the social and artistic network of Valencia, materialized in this participation is a key factor for the future of the Meeting, which wants to provide the space that Valencia's art and the artistic network of the Region deserves.
