CHIEF OF POLICE ANTONIO MORENO, WHEN ASKED WHETHER HE CONSIDERED THE POLICE RESPONSE "DISPROPORTIONATE" SAID SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF "YOU DON'T GIVE NUMBERS TO YOUR ENEMY".
MR MORENO, I HAVE A QUESTION FOR YOU:
ARE CHILDREN YOUR ENEMY? ARE THE PEOPLE OF VALENCIA YOUR ENEMY? IS THIS BUSINESS (WHICH PAYS MORE THAN YOUR ANNUAL WAGES) YOUR ENEMY?
WE CALL FOR THE RESIGNATION OF ANTONIO MORENO, HE'S EVIDENTLY OVERSTRESSED, SLIGHTLY MAD AND CURRENTLY CONTROLLING A DANGEROUS AND VIOLENT FORCE ON THE STREETS OF VALENCIA AGAINST CHILDREN, PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS.

If you've been keeping your ear to the ground then you'll have heard that we're heading for another Solar Eclipse. This one will come on October 3rd 2005 (that's a Monday) and will be very visible (if that's the word!) in the morning around the Valencia province.
This one comes with a health warning though - and this is very *important* if you have kids. Apparently, there's a particular time during the eclipse when it can permanently damage kids' eyes if they look at it.
Now the eclipse will happen on a Monday - a school day - so it's best to check with your school what their plans are and to ensure that if they're going to take the kids outside then they've obtained some protective eyewear or are at least aware of the danger.
One website indicates that the eclipse will pass over Valencia at almost exactly 9am - so kids may be waiting in queues outside their school.
According to www.space.com "looking at the Sun is harmful to your eyes at anytime, partial eclipse or no."
I imagine it's also not so healthy for adults either - so you have been warned.

There is a rumour going around that the Xativa astronomical society sill be setting up viewing stations at Xativa castle on the morning of the eclipse - we'll update you if we can confirm this. As with all rumours - assume it's not true unless confirmed!
The NASA site appears to have a wealth of information (if you can follow it!):

KidsEclipse appears to be aimed at kids:
Space.com gives health advice as well and shows what is acceptable eyewear and what is not!
