Rice Festival in Sueca

Rice Festival in Sueca

The so-called Rice Festival, which was declared to be of Tourist Interest in 1966, is held on the final day of the festivities. The International Paella Competition, one of the oldest gastronomic competitions held in Spain, forms part of this festival. The competition is held on the Paseo de la Estación and its aim is to promote and celebrate the most international famous dish in Valencian cooking. The ingredients and recipe for the dish are given to the participants, restauranters from around the world, and the paellas are made with rice grown in the Albufera nature park. They also make a giant paella and in the afternoon hold the cavalcade.

Another important event that is held in Sueca during the last four days of the festival is the International Firework Festival. Every night at midnight there are firework display.
