E111 needs to be updated!

New E111

If you're from the UK and still have an old E111, please note that you must get it replaced at a UK post office, as the paper forms have changed and the old paper E111 from last year are no longer valid. The paper E111 is being replaced with an electronic card during 2005 and if you apply for a new style paper E111, then you should automatically be issued with the new card once these are ready in 2005. Just tick the appropriate box on the E111 application form. Remember, an E111 is just for necessary medical treatment and doesn't replace the need to have travel insurance. Best to have both - a travel insurance policy and the new E111.

If you are living in Spain, then the paper E111 has already been replaced with an electronic card, so if you are resident in Spain, ensure you apply for your new plastic E111 if you intend visiting the U.K. or elsewhere in Europe.
