STOP THE VIOLENCE IN VALENCIA: POLICE VIOLENCE AGAINST CHILDREN ON THE STREETS OF VALENCIA

High school students recently took part in a peaceful protest in Valencia City to protest against their schools not being paid for electricity or heating. They were taught by their teachers how to protest peacefully. The police turned out in riot gear and treated the kids and parents like criminals. This is now daily life for many students and parents here in Valencia and there has been no media coverage of these attrocities. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS REGIME - MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD.

CHIEF OF POLICE ANTONIO MORENO, WHEN ASKED WHETHER HE CONSIDERED THE POLICE RESPONSE "DISPROPORTIONATE" SAID SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF "YOU DON'T GIVE NUMBERS TO YOUR ENEMY".

The streets of Mutxamel, Alicante are transformed thanks to the spectacular parades and the re-enactment of combats. The fiesta honour their patron saint, the Virgen del Loreto, for the miracle in 1597 which saved the population from a serious flood.

On 10th September the parades begin with La Gran Entrada de Moros y Cristianos (The Great Entrance of the Moors and the Christians), led by their captaincies, the Abencerrajes on the side of the Moors and the Smugglers on the Christian side.

But the Moros y Cristianos fiestas reach their peak with the guerrillas, when one hears the sound of gunshot from the harquebuses and one can perceive the smell of gunpowder. Not to be missed: the smugglers’, Moor and Christian embassies and the magnificent parade.

MONDAY, 7th SEPTEMBER
23,45 pm:Saves interpretation to “Ntra. Sra. La Virgen de Loreto”.
Festival opening speech and inauguration of the Popular Stall. Town Hall

WEDNESDAY, 9th, SEPTEMBER
11,15 am:Floral offering, Mass and visit to the Cementery.
20,30 pm:Procession of “Ntra. Sra. La Virgen del Loreto”.

THURSDAY, 10th SEPTEMBER
8,00 am:“Sdad. Musical La Alianza”, parades along an official route around the village.
This parade is refered to as “Diana”.
10,30 am:Festival Authorities parade from the Town Hall to the Church, where the Mass will
be celebrated.
11,30 am:MUSIC BANDS PARADE. “Avda. Carlos Soler”
19,00 pm:GREAT MOORS AND CHRISTIANS PARADE. “Avda. Carlos Soler”

FRIDAY, 12th SEPTEMBER
7,30 am:Breakfast.
8,00 am:“Diana”.
11,30 am:“Comparses” and Music Bands parade from “Passeig Constitució”.
Afterwards, “Ambaixada Contrabandista” (smugglers’ proposal). Castle

17,30 pm:
“Guerrilla” (warfare). At the same time “festers” (participants) and Music Bands
parade from Sant Antoni street. When the “guerrilla” ends, the “Ambaixada Mora”
(moors’ proposal) will take place. Castle
20,00 pm:Moors and Christians parade. “Avda. Carlos Soler”
00,30 pm:Humorous parade. “Avda. Carlos Soler”

SATURDAY, 12th SEPTEMBER
7,30 am:Breakfast.
8,00 am:“Diana”.
10,30 am:Festival Authorities parade from the Town Hall to the Church, where the Mass will

17,30 pm:“Guerrilla” (warfare). At the same time “festers” (participans) and Music Bands
Parade from Ravalet street.
When the “guerrilla” ends, the “Ambaixada Cristiana” (christians’proposal) will

SUNDAY, 13th SEPTEMBER
Traditional Drunkards Day.
The “festers” will meet in their “barraques” (party venues).
